The world-famous crispy chicken restaurant chain KFC launches vegetarian product-range

The new plant-based product line is called the Veggie and it will be available from the 30th of August across all KFC restaurants in Baltics.
The Veggie range consist of a myco protein obtained from fermented mushrooms, and the myco protein is a good source of amino acids and fibers. New Veggie range is 100% meat-free, but it includes milk and egg, which does not make it suitable for vegans.
‘’Studies show a really big increase in the interest towards plant-based products and we believe that this represents a long-term trend. Keeping this in mind, we want to offer our customers a possibility to choose also alternative products, but with the same legendary taste and crispiness’’ comments Mauri Dorbek – Chief Executive Officer in Apollo Group.
KFC Veggie range consist of Veggie Twister, Veggie burger and Veggie Strips (3 and 6 pcs). All products are also available as meals with French fries and a drink. The prices of the veggie menu start from 3,50 eur.
Veggie products are breaded with the legendary original recipe of KFC founder Colonel Sanders with 11 secret herbs and spices. The plant-based novelties have the same legendary original taste and crispiness that restaurant guests know and love. When preparing the Veggie products, KFC follows high quality and food safety requirements, strictly preparing them separately from their non-vegetarian products.
